A Message from the Parent Coordinator of P.S. 209Q
Welcome to another exciting school year!
As Parent Coordinator, my role is to support parents and caregivers. Remember that you and the school staff share the same goal – your child’s academic success.
First of all, create daily routines and understand school policies on attendance. Car drop-off is on 16th Avenue and students wait at the ramp to start the school day.
The ramp doors open at 7:50 a.m. Students should be in their classrooms at 8:00 am. Lateness is recorded.
There is free school breakfast to consider. At 7:40 a.m., using the 16th Road entrance, students can go to the cafeteria for a nourishing breakfast. The menus are on the NYCDOE website under School Foods.
We encourage parents to volunteer for instructional or non-instructional service.
- Non-instructional service – volunteering in the cafeteria, as a supportive roll. The school aides supervise during lunch.
- Instructional service - helping teachers in the classroom. Volunteers are to report to teachers who need specific instructional support for individual students.
Other volunteer opportunities:
- Chess Club – teaching basic chess to students.
- PTA – join a committee
Yes, I am interested in Volunteering
